Cookie policy

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small file placed on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) when you visit a website. It allows the site to function correctly, to remember certain choices and, where you consent, to measure page traffic. We use the term "cookie" broadly: it also covers equivalent technologies such as the browser's local storage (localStorage).

2. Our approach: nothing before your consent

In line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and ICO guidance, no non-essential tracker is placed before you have given your consent. On your first visit, a banner lets you accept or reject everything with the same level of ease. Declining has no impact on your browsing: the catalogue, product pages and forms remain fully accessible.

We do not use any advertising cookies, profiling cookies or social media cookies. Only two third-party services may place trackers, and they are handled differently:

• Analytics (Google Analytics 4) — the measurement script does load when the page opens, but it is initialised in Consent Mode (Consent Mode v2) with all storage denied by default. In practice: until you accept, no analytics cookie is placed on your device and no data is linked to a persistent identifier. If you decline, that choice is stored and storage remains blocked.
• Chat messaging (JivoChat) — its script is never injected into the page before you accept. If you decline, it is not loaded at all, and therefore places no cookie or local storage data.

3. Categories of trackers used

• Strictly necessary trackers — these keep the site running: remembering your consent choice, basket contents, form security. They are exempt from consent and cannot be switched off. Duration: from the session up to 13 months.
• Analytics (subject to consent) — Google Analytics 4, configured in Consent Mode (Consent Mode v2) with storage denied by default. These trackers tell us which pages are visited and which content is useful, as aggregated statistics. Maximum cookie retention: 13 months.
• Advertising and marketing — not used. Google's advertising parameters (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization) remain denied even if you accept analytics.
• Chat messaging (subject to consent) — the JivoChat widget, which lets you chat with us live, places its own cookies and uses local storage to link your messages to your conversation. It is only loaded after you accept.

4. Detail of trackers

• cookie-consent (local storage, necessary) — stores your choice to accept or decline analytics, so we don't ask again on every page. Retention: up to 6 months, after which the banner reappears.
• _ga, _ga_* (Google Analytics 4, analytics) — distinguish visitors on a pseudonymised basis to produce traffic statistics. Retention: up to 13 months. Placed only after you have consented.
• Basket and display preferences (local storage, necessary) — store selected items and your display preferences between visits.
• jv_*, jv_visits_count, jv_utm_* (JivoChat, chat messaging) — identify your chat session, remember the state of the chat window and message history. Domain: jivosite.com. Retention: up to 12 months. Placed only after you have consented.

5. Processors and transfers outside the UK

Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited, acting as a processor. Data may be transferred to the United States, on the basis of the UK–US Data Bridge and standard contractual clauses. The IP address is anonymised and we do not enable any advertising features. Further detail is available in our privacy policy.

Chat messaging is provided by JivoChat (Jivosite Inc.), which acts as a processor for conversations started on the site. Conversations and related technical data may be hosted outside the UK, governed by standard contractual clauses. Please do not share sensitive data via the chat; for any formal request, write to us by email.

6. Withdrawing or changing your consent

Your consent can be withdrawn at any time, as easily as it was given:

• by deleting cookies and local storage for this site from your browser settings: the consent banner will appear again on your next visit, and you can then choose "Reject all";
• by configuring your browser to block or clear cookies (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all offer this setting under "Privacy");
• by writing to us at info@kcberry.com : we will action your request as soon as possible.

Blocking strictly necessary trackers may impair certain features, such as keeping items in your basket.

7. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect technical, legal or organisational changes. The date of the last update appears at the bottom of this page. In the event of a material change of purpose, we will ask for your consent again.
